Welcome to the Helen Macpherson Smith Trust

We are an independent philanthropic trust established by the late Helen Macpherson Schutt (nee Smith).

For more than 50 years we have given grants to a wide variety of charitable institutions and a diverse range of projects that seek to benefit and improve the lives of the people of Victoria, Australia.

In response the the 2009 February bushfires tragedy, the Helen Macpherson Smith Trust established a special $2m HMS Bushfires Grants Fund.

The Macpherson Smith Rural Foundation Limited is a new charity established with a $5.75m grant from the Trust. It is dedicated to the welfare and educational opportunities of regional and rural communities across Victoria.

The Helen Macpherson Smith Trust, in partnership with the Department of Planning and Community Development, also funds the Macpherson Smith Community Alliance which provides grants for community groups participating in the Victorian Government's rural and regional Community Building Initiative.
