First lot of grants for Bushfire-affected comunities [29.06.2009]

The HMS Bushfires Fund received 27 applications seeking over $3m in funds to support fire affected communities. From these the Trustees approved seven applications totaling $130,700.

The successful projects demonstrated a high level of local community participation and involvement. Unfortunately many applications were either rejected or deferred, pending further information on funding availability from Federal and the State Government and the development of Community Plans with the Victorian Bushfire Reconstruction and Renewal Authority.

The next round of funding closes on 30 September 2009 with a further three rounds in 2010.
