Darvell M.Hutchinson AM, recently retired Chairman of the Helen Macpherson Smith Trust, has been honoured with Life Membership of Philanthropy Australia in recognition of his 50 years of outstanding service to philanthropy and the community. The announcement was made by Alan Schwartz, President of Philanthropy Australia, to 500 delegates and guests gathered in the Great Hall of the National Gallery of Victoria for the association's biennial conference.

Long recognised as a leader and visionary in Australia’s philanthropic sector, Darvell Hutchinson AM has today announced that he is stepping down as Chairman of the Helen Macpherson Smith Trust (HMSTrust) after a remarkable 50-year stewardship. He will retire as a Trustee at HMSTrust’s Annual Meeting in November.

Trustees and staff of the Helen Macpherson Smith Trust congratulate Winsome McCaughey on the recognition her achievements have been given through her appointment to the Order of Australia. On Monday 9 June, Winsome was appointed an Officer (AO) of the Order of Australia 'for her distinguished service to the community, particularly to local government and early childhood development, and through a broad range of charitable organisations.'
